Ask first: approve what the agent changes
The agent can now check with you before it changes something. Turn it on when you want to stay in control, and leave it off when you want it to just get things done.
Two modes
- Auto-approve runs everything without asking. This is how every chat already works, so nothing changes unless you switch.
- Ask first pauses before the agent creates or edits anything, such as tasks, projects, or your profiles
- Reading, searching, and looking things up never ask
When it asks
- A card appears in the agent's steps with what it wants to do, and View details shows the exact values
- Allow runs it once
- Allow for this session runs it, and runs the same action again in this chat without asking
- Deny skips it. The agent says it did not make the change and carries on with the rest
- Actions that affect other people, like assigning a task or removing a member, say so on the card
- Your role in the workspace still applies. Allowing something never lets the agent do more than you can
Good to know
- Switch modes with the chip in the composer. Switching to Auto-approve lets a waiting action go through, and switching to Ask first clears what you allowed for the session
- Stop cancels a waiting action. If nobody answers for 30 minutes, the agent stops
- Reload the page and the card is still there. Answer in one tab and it clears in your other tabs
- A skipped action shows as denied, not failed
Where to find it
- The mode chip next to the input in the Agent composer on Home,
/agent/[sessionId], and the floating dock
